POSITION TITLE:    Executive Mortgage Officer                             DEPARTMENT:        Lending

REPORTS TO:           SVP, Chief Retail Officer                               FLSA STATUS:          Exempt

 

Position Description: The Executive Mortgage Officer proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells Town and Country Credit Union's products to meet established loan quality and production goals. This will include identifying, developing and maintaining quality business relationships that serve as a source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. Participates in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote home ownership and professional organizations. The EMO will conduct interviews with prospective borrowers, will gather financial and credit data, determine member financing objectives, and advises members of product/pricing policies and guidelines. With thorough knowledge of the lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, will assist members to meet their mortgage borrowing needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop business referral network through marketing, cold-calling, prospecting and networking activities. Participate in community efforts to promote home ownership.
  • Prospect new mortgage lending opportunities, as well as appropriate opportunities to see additional products.
  • Manages the loan application process for mortgage lending, including activities from collecting initial information through to the post-closing process. Successfully closes high quality mortgage loans.
  • Work effectively with the processing and underwriting team to ensure that loans documents are accurately and efficiently completed, in harmony with all TCCU policies, processes and procedures, in addition to all applicable regulations.
  • Partner with appropriate resources within the Credit Union to stay on top of loan status and to manage on-going communications with members, throughout the loan process.
  • Maintain current and thorough knowledge of all lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Performance Measures:

  • Completes their work efficiently, effectively and accurately in accordance with all established policies, standards and security procedures. All tasks complete in a timely manner, ensuring that loan applications move through the pipeline in accord with regulatory requirements, and in compliance with Credit Union standards.
  • Prospects new mortgage lending opportunities, meeting established sales goals.
  • Ensures exceptional member experience by overseeing loan process from origination to close and providing on-going communication to members and business partners.
  • Strong working relationships with management and co-workers across all departments.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience.

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated understanding of mortgage processing, underwriting, closing procedures, and regulations governing real estate lending, as well as demonstrated success in prospecting, generating leads, closing business and consistently meeting/exceeding production goals. Verifiable, established network of referral business including real estate professionals and other centers of influence.

SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong math and analytical skills; attention to detail; strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability; able to utilize computer and financial software as needed in the position. Demonstrates expertise in leading/influencing others to achieve goals.
